Lucresia Stone-Rojas, 46, was sentenced to seven years in prison after authorities discovered heroin hidden in the spines of Bibles intended for inmates in California state prisons.
Her arrest followed a traffic stop in El Cajon on Nov. 12, 2023, where police found a stolen Porsche, a loaded 9mm handgun, and ammunition.
Though she was not charged for the stolen vehicle, Stone-Rojas, a convicted felon, faced federal charges for unlawful firearm possession.
A subsequent investigation on Dec. 27, 2023, led to the discovery of two heroin-filled Bibles among packages addressed to prisoners.
Authorities condemned the smuggling attempt, emphasizing the dangers of drugs in correctional facilities.
