Israel has warned it will take all necessary measures to stop the Madleen, a yacht carrying humanitarian aid and pro-Palestinian activists including Greta Thunberg, from breaching its naval blockade of Gaza.

The vessel, organised by the Freedom Flotilla Coalition, is sailing from Sicily with 12 people onboard and a small cargo of aid, aiming to challenge Israel’s long-standing blockade.

UPDATE: Israeli Navy intercepts Gaza-bound activist ship

Defence Minister Israel Katz accused the group of supporting Hamas and instructed the military to act if the boat attempts to reach Gaza.

The FFC maintains the blockade is illegal and says Israel is threatening civilian activists with force.

The standoff comes amid ongoing conflict in Gaza, where over 54,000 people have been reported killed since Israel launched a military campaign following Hamas’s 2023 cross-border terrorist attack.
