South Africa have announced a 37-man squad for next month’s Rugby Championship tests against Australia, with notable absences including World Cup winners Lukhanyo Am, Faf de Klerk, and Makazola Mapimpi, who are on standby.
Coach Rassie Erasmus continues to build squad depth, bringing in recent debutants and excluding players like Thomas du Toit (rested) and Jasper Wiese (suspended). Erasmus emphasized the need to test younger talent ahead of the 2027 World Cup, with three standout players from the victorious U20 team invited to train with the squad.
The Springboks will host Australia in Johannesburg on August 16 and in Cape Town on August 23.
