Country artist Damien J. Johnson is proud to announce the upcoming release of his latest single, “This House,” a bluesy country-rock song that stands out from the previous two singles (Nobody Else But You and One Hill Town) due to its use of electric guitars and big blues energy.
“This House” is raw and gritty, in both lyric and feel, and evokes images of escaping modern digital life in exchange for open highways, sweeping desert plains and quiet country creeks and streams.
The main lyrical theme of the song is a driving sense of being somewhere where you do not belong, somewhere where you feel unsettled, and somewhere that stirs in you a longing to be home.

“‘This House’ is more than just a song,” says Johnson. “It’s a place we’ve all been — emotionally, spiritually or physically. “For me, personally, it echoes from an innate sense that there is a bigger, greater calling on humanity than the bustle of the competitive, capitalist life. For me it is a spiritual song that is crying out for hope akin to something that resonates with the ideas of ‘heaven’ or ‘god’ or ‘the universe’. But it could as much be about struggling to survive in the current housing crisis and wondering if you’ll ever find a place called home, such is the ambiguous and metaphoric nature of the song.”
