Top Democrat labelled “pure evil” for false claims about Charlie Kirk’s Civil Rights Act stance

New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez sparked backlash after tweeting that Charlie Kirk believed the Civil Rights Act granting Black Americans the right to vote was a “mistake,” accusing him of bigotry and antisemitism.

Speaking in Congress this week, Cortez condemned Kirk’s assassination but went on to make false claims about Kirk’s views on civil rights.

Critics quickly countered her claims, calling them lies and deliberate misrepresentations of Kirk’s words. Multiple responses pointed out that Kirk had said the Civil Rights Act should have been simplified to a single principle: “No one should be discriminated against based on their race.”

Outraged reactions poured in, branding Ocasio-Cortez “pure evil,” “dishonest,” and guilty of slandering a man after his assassination. Some accused her of knowingly lying to provoke conservatives while banking on progressive supporters being “dumb enough” to accept her version of events. Others highlighted video evidence contradicting her tweet, arguing that her rhetoric disrespected both Kirk’s legacy and the truth.
