The government has announced a $15 million roof project for Auckland’s Manuka Doctor Tennis Arena, home of the ASB Classic.
The development, co-funded by a $5m government grant and Tennis Auckland’s contributions, follows earlier support from Auckland Council’s Sport and Recreation Facilities Fund, which enabled demolition of the Robinson Grandstand.
Tourism and Hospitality Minister Louise Upston said the investment would ensure world-class facilities to attract international events, while Prime Minister Christopher Luxon emphasised the importance of raising standards. The roof, part of a $70m Major Events and Tourism Package, is expected to be completed by 2027, providing greater certainty for players, organisers, and fans.
