The man who filed a court case against Health Minister Andrew Little on 4 February has been arrested by police trying to serve the documents at parliament today.
Brett Power filed his case against Little in New Plymouth (file number 220203/2237), seeking Little’s arrest for culpable homicide, in relation to actions taken during the COVID pandemic. If police fail to act, then citizens may prosecute the matter under the Crimes Act.
Power was filmed announcing to the protest crowd that he had the documents inside a small red suitcase, and that he was going to inside and serve them on Little. Throughout the speech he confirmed numerous times that he would not resist arrest, in line with the protest’s principle of non-violent opposition.
As Power attempts to walk through the police line, he is stopped. A ‘rugby maul’ ensues as the two lines (protesters and police) meet, but Power is eventually detained and led away by police.
DTNZ understands he has been released and trespassed from parliament’s grounds.
Our sources on the ground report the size of the encamped protest is growing and that there are reports that more police are being flown in this evening for a ‘showdown’ tonight.

We already are making headway. The very fact that the police are concentrated in Parliament rather than doing something about the increasing crime rate shows that the so-called ‘leaders’ of our country are getting scared, resorting to terrorist tactics.
