U.K. teacher branded a ‘terrorist’ after showing Trump videos to students

A British college lecturer says he was treated “like a terrorist” and forced out of his job after showing students video clips of U.S. President Donald Trump as part of a classroom discussion, according to a report by The Telegraph (UK).

The teacher, who worked at Henley College in Oxfordshire and is in his 50s, said he resigned following an internal investigation that accused him of “radicalising students” and causing “emotional distress”. He described the experience as “dystopian” and compared it to something out of a George Orwell novel.

The investigation began in January after complaints from students who claimed the lessons were politically biased and strayed from the curriculum. One student reportedly said the videos were so upsetting they led to nightmares.

The matter was later referred to a local child protection agency, which concluded the teacher’s views could be perceived as “radical” and advised the school to report him to ‘Prevent’, the UK government’s counter-extremism programme aimed at stopping terrorist radicalisation.

“They likened me to a terrorist. It was completely jarring,” the teacher told the newspaper. He said the clips were shown during a discussion about the 2024 US presidential election and accused the college of having a strong left-wing bias. “They don’t tolerate anything about Donald Trump,” he said.

After launching a formal grievance, the teacher reached a negotiated settlement with the college. He received a £2,000 payout after leaving a role that paid £44,000 a year.
