Christopher Luxon has secured his position as Prime Minister and leader of the National Party after winning a confidence vote within his caucus—one he initiated himself.

The meeting, which ran for more than two hours, came amid internal concerns from some MPs and declining support in recent polling.

Following the vote, Luxon said the outcome reaffirmed his leadership, stating he had the backing of his caucus.

He described the discussion as open and constructive but declined to take questions from the media. Luxon also dismissed ongoing speculation about his position, signalling he would not engage further and considers the issue settled.

  1. Political theatre, and not even good political theatre, which undoubtedly will thrill the fake “democratic” parties in the Beehive as they marvel at their own navels and wallow in the cesspit which they’ve convinced themselves smells of roses.

  2. The MSM are and always have been gunning for Luxon – right from before day one. He had a grilling yesterday in a way Ardern never had. In fact, if she’d had the same grilling there would be cries of “misogyny” and “only a woman would be asked the questions in that way” or “a man isn’t treated the same”. Like him or not, he isn’t a career politician but I think really does want to make a difference and having had a couple of casual conversations with him in the past -know that he remembers you which is an amazing feat. MSM are screaming for a labour led govt I suppose to get another $50m in handouts. Meanwhile – actual journalism dies a slow death – leaving podcasters and amateurs to do the job properly. What a state of affairs.
