NZ Loyal names West Coast-Tasman candidate

New Zealand Loyal has announced commercial apiarist Alexander Hislop as its candidate for the West Coast-Tasman electorate at the 2026 General Election.

Hislop, who is based in Murchison, is an employer and exporter specialising in queen bee genetics. Announcing his candidacy, he said New Zealand had the resources needed to prosper but argued that too many decisions affecting the country’s future were being made without putting New Zealanders first.

“I believe it is time to restore local decision-making, strengthen our economy, support productive industries and protect the future for our children and grandchildren,” Hislop said.

Hislop is the first of a number of candidates the party intends to announce in the coming weeks.
