K-pop star Hanni to testify in National Assembly hearing on bullying in music industry

Hanni, a member of the popular K-pop group NewJeans, has announced her decision to testify before South Korea’s National Assembly in an upcoming hearing on workplace harassment in the music industry.

The 20-year-old singer revealed her plans without informing her management or record label, Ador, following concerns she and her bandmates raised about their treatment in a September YouTube livestream.

Hanni’s testimony comes amidst a growing controversy involving allegations of mistreatment by Ador’s new leadership and a public dispute with another girl group, Illit.
