Carl Weathers, renowned for his role as Apollo Creed in the “Rocky” film series and his appearances in a wide array of films and TV shows including “Predator” and “The Mandalorian,” has passed away at the age of 76.
His death occurred peacefully at home, as confirmed by his manager Matt Luber, though no cause of death was disclosed.
Celebrated not only for his significant contributions to the entertainment industry but also for his earlier career in professional football, Weathers leaves behind a legacy that spans film, television, the arts, and sports.
His family told media he will be remembered as an “exceptional human being” who lived an “extraordinary life,” touching the hearts of people worldwide across different generations.
Weathers, who transitioned from football to acting in the mid-1970s, also took on roles in other notable projects such as “Action Jackson,” “Happy Gilmore,” and voiced Combat Carl in the “Toy Story” franchise.
In addition to acting, he directed episodes of several TV series and was nominated for an Emmy for his role in “The Mandalorian.”
Weathers is survived by two sons.
What a shame. One of the best actors in his generation. The 80’s action films wouldn’t have been the same without him. Still, 76 is not a bad high score.

He was most excellent in the TV series from the 80’s titled ‘Tour of Duty’ where he starred as Col. Brewster during the Vietnam War.
Morgan Freeman, Denzel Washington, James Earl Jones, Rev. James Manning, Stan Foster…these are the black actors who had grace, dignity, morals & ethics, and they brought those to the screen.
It’s too bad that young blacks in the U.S. and elsewhere don’t aspire to be like them-the world would be a richer place in many way if that ever happened, but such counter-productive entities such as the US Government, NAACP, ADL, ANTIFA, BLM…prevent success due to projected victimisation.
