Up to 38 residents of two remote settlements in Australia’s Northern Territory have been removed from their homes and taken to Howard Springs Quarantine Camp (pictured) near Darwin.
A report in The Expose, a UK based independent media outlet claims the removals were forced, however Daily Telegraph cannot confirm that.
The removals took place at Binjari and Rockhole, where most of the residents are 1st Nations aboriginal people. Some aboriginal leaders have posted videos on social media claiming ‘genocide’ and other crimes.
The removals coincided with an announcement by Northern Territory Chief Minister Michael Gunner of a hard lockdown, meaning leaving home is restricted only to people who require medical treatment, for emergencies, or as required by law.
