Five people, including a close friend of Liam Payne, have been charged in connection with the One Direction star’s death at a Buenos Aires hotel on October 16.
Among those accused is Rogelio ‘Roger’ Nores, facing allegations of negligent homicide.
Hotel managers Gilda Martín and Esteban Grassi are charged with manslaughter, while hotel staff members Braian Paiz and Ezequiel Pereyra face up to 15 years in prison for allegedly supplying narcotics to Payne. Police investigations revealed that Payne consumed alcohol, cocaine, and antidepressants before falling from a third-floor balcony. Prosecutors ruled out suicide, stating Payne was in a state of “semi or total unconsciousness” at the time of the incident.
Text messages and eyewitness accounts suggest Payne had requested drugs and alcohol during his stay, with allegations that hotel staff facilitated the supply.
Nores, who has denied responsibility, stated he left the hotel shortly before the tragedy. Hotel managers, reportedly seen carrying Payne to his room hours before his fall, have remained silent on the charges.
The case, marked by its complexity, has sparked speculation about broader culpability, with prosecutors detailing multiple instances of drug supply to the singer. The investigation continues, shedding light on the circumstances leading to the 31-year-old star’s untimely death.
