Five charged in drug-related death of ‘Friends’ star Matthew Perry

Matthew Perry news

Authorities have charged five individuals in connection with the drug-related death of actor Matthew Perry, including two doctors and his personal assistant.

Perry, who died aged 54 in his Los Angeles home last October, was found to have a lethal concentration of ketamine in his blood, according to a post-mortem examination.

The investigation revealed a criminal network of drug suppliers who provided Perry with large quantities of ketamine, exploiting his struggles with addiction.

Three of the defendants, including Perry’s assistant, have already pleaded guilty to drug charges, while two others, a doctor and a woman dubbed the “Ketamine Queen,” were arrested and have pleaded not guilty.

The indictment against the accused details a scheme in which Perry’s assistant and two doctors facilitated the purchase and administration of ketamine, which ultimately led to Perry’s death.

Prosecutors allege that one of the doctors, Salvador Plasencia, taught the assistant how to administer the drug and provided Perry with ketamine without legitimate medical justification.

Despite warning signs and previous incidents, Plasencia and the others continued supplying Perry with the drug, leading to his fatal overdose.
