New Zealand police believe that the primary reason Tom Phillips took his children, Jayda, Maverick, and Ember, was due to a custody dispute, as he no longer holds legal custody.
Acting Detective Inspector Andrew Saunders noted this motive in a recent legacy media mini-documentary, citing that custody changed after Phillips’ first disappearance with the children in September 2021.
At that time, Phillips had lawful custody, but police now suspect he used that first incident to prepare for his current, longer-term disappearance, which included evading a court appearance and disappearing into the bush with the children.
Custody of the children now lies with Oranga Tamariki.
Phillips is also facing multiple charges, including aggravated robbery, related to an ANZ bank heist, although local Marokopa residents remain skeptical about his involvement.

I actually have some sympathy for this man. Men in general get a raw deal from the NZ justice system. As for Oranga Tamariki, they are a joke.
I suspect there are quite a few people that are feeling the same way as you. I wonder what his real crime was that caused this dispute? Doesn’t sound like we’ll ever get his side of the story.
Forward. The public can never believe police statements ever again because police claim that the use of batons, punching old men, women and children who were sleeping, pouring petrol on tents and lighting fires at the peaceful protest was justified.
Any father that has been at the unbalanced NZ family court will know it is even more corrupt than Andrew Coster.

NZ family court is family destroying and father killing.
I am a woman who has represented myself in the family court. The problem with the family court is the lawyers, all seeking to gain maximum profit from other people’s problems. Get rid of the lawyers and leave it up to a judge. I have absolutely no regrets and it exposed my ex husband for the lying controlling manipulator that he was.
I am sure in hindsight he can see what he did.
If one parent is a druggie or alkie they should NOT EVER have full custody. Access yes, but NOT CUSTODY.
I believe Tom was trying to stop the kids from being vaccinated. He disappeared in December 2021 and we all know what was going down then. Horrible time.

IRD are generally unaware of the cause of death. Presumably Sue Gilles thinks what she calls the customers can apply for an administrative review if they have special circumstances. Seemingly she and IRD thinks thats an acceptable disclaimer for their policies. Men, usually don’t ask for help, they just cope. It is how they are wired. And calling the deceased customers??? WTF is that? Zero compassion.
As we all know, it is almost always the father who is the non-custodial parent. That and IRD thinks it helpful to hide the suicides inside the natural deaths, health problems identified by Nurit Zubery Thesis (click here) caused by severe stress.

Well, it looks like 2020 (year of the lockdown) was a bumper year. The best yet. Hon David Parker minister of revenue (including IRD) must be very delighted with that result. A real team effort.
I refuse to call them customers. I will only call them victims of IRD policy.
The least IRD could do is reach out to the fathers and ask if they are coping with it all. Loss of home, loss of their things in the home, loss of income, no faith. Monitor them. How they find living without seeing their kids because seeing them in the eyes of the mother would reduce payments. And when you call them, use a man because they have very good reason to distrust women.
My condolences to the children for their great lifetime of loss. No dad to help you when you need it. Not knowing the bond, love and faithfulness of a father, a grandfather.
One day, and I hope it is soon. A Government, maybe a Prime Minister will step up and say “I will no longer support policy that puts human beings in a place of hopelessness and despair”. You see NZ has these policies for unemployed, the sick, elderly, children, Maori, women, refugees, even plants, pets and live stock. But not separated fathers.

Now days, men are not putting themselves in a position to be asset stripped. Women call it a man drought. Men are not letting women into their homes. Only short flings, precautions not to get women pregnant.
The result is NZ birth rate is about 1.5. Thats not even replacement.

There was a time up until the late 1960’s where women with children were not on land titles. For the most part women did not work. They were stay at home mothers. Noted our kids were far better behaved. If women left their husbands, they left with nothing. Thats why there were woman shelters. It was appalling.
Along came the property matrimonial act. I think it was 7 or 10 years of marriage, she got half.
Over the years, that reduced to just 3 years.
Today women work. Arguably taken over, education, heath and medical, government workers.. Good at it too.
The spliting of property isn’t needed anymore because women are independent, qualified and employable.
The system we have now has created, parental alienation, fatherless kids, more housing along with the infrastructure to support it.
People should contract in, not have to contact out. Then everyone knows where they stand. There will be no tricking men or women out of property.

A court order made between September 2021 and December 2021. Who sought that? The mother or the police.

Why are these things secret?
The police say Tom Phiilips kidnapped his own children. The police say Phillips shot a lone officer who confronted him at 2:30am at night. But then was immediately shot by another officer, so the first wasn’t so alone. The police say Phillips committed a series of burglaries and robbed a bank but the video’s show a hooded and unidentifiable person. Publishing these videos with the comment that it was Phillips means that the videos could then not be used as evidence in a court. Was it expected that Phillips would be shot and killed and therefore not appear in a court?.
A bit more openness and honesty would go a long way to helping this story. My confidence in the NZ Police has just hit rock bottom.

The family court as a secret court because they are making questionable decisions.
It is a weath distribution court. Some women who are in debt, cant earn enough parental alienate the children and are rewarded hundreds of thousands in property settlements.
Long past time for a law change. Back in the 1960’s women were mostly say at home mums. A fathers wage could pay for a house, buy food, car and afford to live a reasonable life. If women left, they got nothing. That needed laws to balance things up.
However today women do work in all fields. Strongly in education, medical, legal and government. Those laws to split everything after just 3 years are no longer needed.
Men today simply are saying ok for short term relationships, can’t stay in my house. Many say can’t have a child because somehow after separation, the new man who isnt the father is required to pay for that.
All about moving liability on to men and not leaving where it truly lies. The spin off is men are no longer getting involved in situations that might end in financial risk. Short term relationships, no step kids as that carries financial risk too.
Contract out agreements and trusts need to be managed by professionals. Law moves quickly as it isn’t just created by parliament, higher court rulings are forcing judges to make that the standard.
When its time to settle or have a family, women have fewer options. Many of those are a burden on government resources, i mean your tax dollars paying for housing , healthcare, food everything a solo parent meeds.

The NZ Family Court system, with its ‘collaboration’ of Orangi Tamariki and police, is appalling. Contrary to its statutes it is a tool dividing and subverting society. The time it takes to make a ruling is measured in years. In a vast number of cases, men just walk away from being a father: they cannot afford time off work, they face the insane cost of lawyers, bear the emotional turmoil and the ongoing grinding time the process takes among the male-hostile FC environment. Multiple other agencies are feeding off the system.
Every fourth child in New Zealand grows up without a father, often ruled by a Family Court.
A full investigation and reform is long overdue. If the blatant misdeeds of the whole secret system were known to the public, Godzone would be in instant mourning.
The NZ birth is no where near replacement. You need 2.1 NZ is only 1.5. That is why NZ has turned to immigration.
The separation laws and family court are to blame. A few tweaks are needed. The issues are.
1. Couples who get together need to contract in if the property is owned by one person.
2. Equal parenting is the law unless serious abuse or voilence. The occasional spat, especially if caused by provocation isn’t.
It is the men who have walked away. Happy with their peace and comfort.
The manipulation and greed of well dressed and internationally traveled women who run on credit , do not own land, pussy whip some guy who does. Evident by the birthrate and smaller dwellings, that is now finished.
Sensible safe and practical laws equals prosperity. Carry on as wel have, little or no children.
