Renowned documentary maker Louis Theroux continues to navigate his alopecia journey, recently unveiling his latest step in self-care.
The 53-year-old revealed on Instagram that he has undergone eyebrow microblading, three months after shaving off his eyebrows.
In December 2023, Louis shared with his followers that he had lost his eyebrows due to alopecia. However, in a recent Instagram post, he shared a series of selfies alongside a caption detailing his experience with eyebrow microblading, a semi-permanent tattooing procedure.
Acknowledging the support he received from followers suggesting microblading, Louis explained his decision to try the treatment. He underwent two sessions, each lasting a couple of hours, to achieve the desired results.
Expressing his satisfaction with the outcome, Louis remarked, ‘I’m happy to have my old face back.’ He noted that the new brows are neater and more shapely than his natural ones, with a touch of his remaining hair adding to their natural appearance.
Louis also opened up about the ongoing challenges of alopecia, sharing that more gaps, or ‘lesions’ have appeared on his scalp. While contemplating sharing photos of these, he admitted they can be challenging to confront.
Theroux said while there were far more important things in the world to worry about, he was trying to maintain a positive outlook. ‘Life goes on. I am happy and healthy in every other way and I feel very grateful.’

Daft and slightly creepy.
Shame, Louis used to be moderately entertaining.
