A former New Zealand international sports star has pleaded guilty to three representative charges of posting intimate visual recordings without consent.

The man, whose name is temporarily suppressed, threatened to post a woman’s naked photos to her social media accounts and sent several of the images to a relative’s phone over the course of more than a week.

Despite the woman’s repeated requests for him to stop and delete the photos, the man continued his actions, leading to his appearance in the New Plymouth District Court.

The court proceedings revealed that the offending began on May 23 when the man sent the woman several naked photos of herself, threatening to share them publicly.

By May 30, he had sent one of the photos to a relative’s phone, mistakenly believing the woman would see it first.

The harassment persisted until early June, prompting the woman to reiterate her requests for him to stop.

Judge Tony Greig warned that the man could face home detention or community detention, with prison as the starting point for sentencing.

The man’s name suppression will remain in place until his sentencing on November 28, with a potential application for permanent suppression to be made by his defence lawyer.

  1. One thing I have learnt over my long years, all relationships are temporary. You can do thousands of right things and one day, one moment can destroy that relationship. Money tends to be a motivation to move on.

    • I agree with you. Today, the new generation of men are protecting themselves by not letting women into their property. Taking steps to protect their dwellings and land by not allowing women to get a foothold.

I am starting to wonder if the state aim was all about reducing population, over taxation and in some cases to make the state the parent.

It is a miserable way of life and society. Welcome to the new state of affairs.
