The shocking video showed a man attacking a female District Court judge on Wednesday (local time).
The man named Deobra Redden, a three-time felon, attacked Judge Mary Kay Holthus in a Las Vegas courtroom during his sentencing hearing after she denied him probation.
Redden was convicted of attempted battery with substantial bodily harm. When Redden’s attorney requested probation, Judge Holthus decided on a different sentence due to his criminal history.
In response, Redden sprinted to the bench, leaped over it, and tackled the judge to the ground.
Chaos ensued with people wrestling Redden, who yelled profanities at the judge. Court officers eventually subdued him, but he attempted to go after the judge again.
Holthus suffered a minor head injury, but she was reported to be okay. A marshal was also injured during the incident.
Redden now faces new charges of battery and battery on a protected person, with the latter indicating substantial harm to the victim. He is due back in court and is currently held at the Clark County Jail.
Redden had a history of criminal charges and had previously appeared before Judge Holthus.
