On Thursday 21 June 2022 local time, lawyers acting for the singer’s nephew asked for the sexual assault case to be dropped.
Martin’s nephew 21 year old Dennis Sanchez had alleged sexual abuse at the hands of his famous uncle. A restraining order in force against Martin was also withdrawn.
The allegations emerged on July 1 when a judge granted a restraining order against Martin under Law 54 — also known as the Domestic Abuse Prevention and Intervention Act, which he denied.
“The allegations against Ricky Martin that lead to a protection order are completely false and fabricated,” representatives for Martin told PEOPLE Magazine at the time. “We are very confident that when the true facts come out in this matter our client Ricky Martin will be fully vindicated.”
