The living wage in New Zealand will increase to $28.95 per hour from September, up by $1.15 from the current rate of $27.80, significantly outpacing the new minimum wage of $23.50 set to take effect on April 1.
Established by the independent group ‘Living Wage Aotearoa NZ’, the living wage is adopted by 342 accredited employers and often used in government contracts—though the current government is considering removing the requirement.
Executive director Gina Lockyer highlighted the critical impact the living wage has on working families, allowing them to cover essential expenses and avoid financial strain.
She warned that if the government drops its support, many workers risk falling behind just as the cost of living continues to rise.

Why not make the ‘living’ wage $50.00 per hour?
Then everyone could all afford a Tesla and a new house….!!??
Living wage parasites just pass their costs onto the minimum wage normies. I wonder what the political leanings are of the work places that have a living wage, I wager very Left leaning.
