Albanese – Australian Federal Election to be held on May 3

Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese has announced that the 2025 Federal Election will be held on May 3, following his visit to Governor-General Sam Mostyn to dissolve parliament.

In a press conference at Parliament House, Albanese framed the election as a critical choice between Labor’s plan to continue building and Opposition Leader Peter Dutton’s proposed cuts.

Highlighting the importance of voters’ decisions, Albanese said he will focus on jobs, while claiming wages, education, and Medicare were at stake, positioning his government as one that addresses global challenges while easing cost-of-living pressures.

Dutton is expected to make a statement shortly.

  1. And the losers, as always, will be the ordinary people of Australia, as is the case here in New Zealand. The whole system, is broken and needs to be discarded.
