Axe used in Greenlane liquor store robbery

A robbery at the Super Liquor store in Greenlane saw a staff member assaulted with an axe.

Two men who armed with weapons entered the store in an attempt to steal cigarettes and cash. An employee was attacked during the robbery, suffering a hit on the hand with an axe and a blow to his back. The injuries did not require stitches.

The thieves also damaged a cigarette cabinet and the till before fleeing with between $200 and $300 in cash.

Police told legacy media the duo left behind a phone and the weapon used in the assault, which led to their swift apprehension and arrest.
