Bodies of tech mogul Mike Lynch and daughter found in Superyacht wreckage

The bodies of British tech billionaire Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter Hannah have been recovered from the wreckage of Lynch’s superyacht, the Bayesian, which sank off the coast of Sicily earlier this week.

The vessel was struck by a ‘rare waterspout’, leading to its rapid sinking and leaving several others still unaccounted for. A fifth body has been located but not yet recovered, with divers continuing the challenging search operation amidst debris and silt that obscure the wreckage.

Lynch, often referred to as “Britain’s Bill Gates,” had been celebrating a legal victory after being acquitted of fraud charges in the U.S. when the tragedy occurred. The wreck is located about 50 metres underwater, complicating rescue efforts.

Authorities are investigating the incident, including whether any crew errors contributed to the vessel’s rapid sinking.

Lynch’s former colleague and co-defendant in the fraud charges Stephen Chamberlain, was killed in an unrelated accident just days earlier.

  1. The mast was huge. Never saw something like it. On this type of sailboat normally at least two masts. But i am no expert. Only a personal observation

  2. Harp, they were killed, water spouts etc..? Yeah nah. And his business partner? Hit job and what just happened to his lawyer? He got poisoned. They scammed the je3$.

  3. Here’s an exercise for all you budding statisticians out there:

What are the chances that a superyacht gets wiped out by a freak waterspout and literally plunges to the bottom within a minute, leaving all the other moored vessels practically untouched?

This is a truly amazing occurrence and it would take a Bayesian study of this very uncertain event through the notion of probability to properly understand what happened.

  4. Also, of the crew of fifteen, only the cook drowned. The other fourteen left on the lifeboat. Within 60 seconds.
It was revenge without a doubt. These were smart men and Darktrace, their cybersecurity software must have been beating the competition from other inferior products. Palantir?
Lynch was extradited from the Uk to the US in 2023 to face criminal charges over Hewlett Packard’s $11 billion acquisition of his software company Autonomy in 2011. HP said the company found out Autonomy was overpriced by $4billion and Lynch was tried for padding the share price. (There was an activist hedge fund involved in this claim that Lynch had overpriced the company). HP wanted the money back. Lynch was acquitted by the jury. Were Blackrock, Vanguard and State Street involved? https://thespinoff.co.nz/politics/08-08-2023/what-is-blackrock-and-why-is-it-investing-in-new-zealand
Now Lynch, his daughter, his lawyer and his chief financial officer (Stephen Chamberlain) are dead. Drowned in the most localised weather incident on record – and very soon the media will be ordered to bury the story.

    • Thanks for the background info, it’s kind of vital to the story. I have to say, having pieced together bits from here and from conversations clearly a hit job. But your details put an end to any doubt.
      Very nasty people.
