Police are investigating after a body was found on a beach near Thames Coast Road in Kereta early this morning.
Authorities say they were alerted at about 6.10am after a member of the public discovered the body on the shoreline.
While a formal identification has not yet been completed, police believe the deceased is the man who was reported missing on 22 December after last being seen near the Waikawau boat ramp, said Duty Inspector Neil Faulkner in a statement.
Enquiries are ongoing, and the death is expected to be referred to the Coroner as part of standard procedure.
