“Carnival’s Over”: Mallard replaced as Ambassador to Ireland

Trevor Mallard news

Foreign Minister Winston Peters has announced the end of Trevor Mallard’s posting as Ambassador to Ireland, quipping “you know that famous song from the Seekers? Carnival’s over.”

Peters confirmed career diplomat Angela Hassan-Sharp will take up the position, while criticising the original appointment as part of “a circus” in which politicians were placed in important roles “with no training at all.”

He pointed to Mallard’s controversial handling of the Parliament protest—“turning up the noise, putting cold water over young children at night”—as evidence of why such choices were “a disgrace.”

Peters reiterated his stance that diplomatic jobs should be reserved for trained professionals, stating: “We should not be having politicians in diplomatic jobs, full stop.”

  1. Mallard is a right turd. I hope he hounded wherever he goes if he comes back to NZ.

On the other hand, turning up at parliament for the anti-mandate protest is good optics.

Supporting the gene tech bill which could be used to implement mandates again, not so much.

Doing nothing about the continued use of mRNA shots isn’t good optics either in my book.

“We should not be having politicians in diplomatic jobs, full stop.” – funny coming from the foreign minister.

How is diplomacy going with the new jihadi rulers of Syria, Winston? You know the guy that formed al-nusra and then HTS! You know, the ones the white helmets were always near – even had photos with. The white helmets that NZ supported financially.

Winston Peters, the safety net for the status quo

  2. Good. Trev the Duck should have never been let loose as an ambassador of NZ’rs. His return is a shameful endictimemt on his ability to hold that role. Even the Irish complained he had no formal training.
This correction is a good thing, but we don’t want him back in politics either.

  3. Some part of Crapodemia will appoint Trev as Vice Chancellor. The Leftie junket never ends and they look after their own – the more so, the more incompetent they are.

  4. Maybe Auckland Island and / or the Snares could become New Zealand’s Alcatraz where political narcissists, sociopaths & psychopaths can be sent permanently.
The Chathams would also be ideal, but the population there certainly would not want this ilk among them…!
The previous mentions would be OK…let the seabirds crap all over their prison cells…!
And, the facility can be modeled after Devil’s Island in French Guyana, or the Vorkuta GULAG in Siberia!

  5. Mallard should be charged with child abuse, violation of Human Rights, and Political Corruption & Malfeasance.
His past history of arrogance to the point of physical fighting other members of past Parliaments is deplorable.

  6. Mallard was the most inept, thick-as-mincemeat politician ever. I used to have a go at him on twitter and he blocked me. Good times…
