Happened to an extended family member. She thought HE had their child/he thought SHE had the child.
He backed up in driveway running over/killing child.
Neither could accept responsibility, they later divorced.

One should try not to have a driveway where backing is required. Gets them everytime.
Where I have had my own house in both circumstances I drove in, front on and then was able to turn, and drive out front on. Too dangerous otherwise.
It’s a terrible shame, and should not happen, they will always carry this memory.
