Climate Change Commission Chair to retire

Rod Carr news

The Climate Change Commission Chair, Dr Rod Carr, has confirmed his plans to retire at the end of his term later this year, Climate Change Minister Simon Watts says.

“Prior to the election, Dr Carr advised me he would be retiring when his term concluded. Dr Rod Carr has led the Climate Change Commission since its inception, and I want to acknowledge his service as Chair.

The Climate Change Commission is an independent crown entity that delivers advice to the Minister of Climate Change.

Commissioners Catherine Leining and Professor James Renwick will also leave the Commission this year at the conclusion of their terms, which have been extended until appointments are made.

“I want to acknowledge Dr Carr for his work in setting up the Climate Change Commission, and recognise Ms Leining and Professor James Renwick for their service,” said Watts.

As per the Climate Change Response Act, the Commission’s nominating committee will soon begin a public recruitment process to find new candidates for the three vacating roles and provide appointment recommendations to the Minister.

For this year’s recruitment process, Dr Carr stepped down from his role of the Chair of the nominating committee and has been replaced by Dame Therese Walsh. Dr Carr will continue to serve on the committee as a member until his term ends.

  1. So the minister in charge can’t be bothered to research his her own thoughts?

Depending on a commission of idiots is typical of this country.

  2. It’s a dream job for someone. Always protected from criticism and well supported by the MSM. Experience in atmospheric physics will not be tolerated however a healthy belief in fairies and unicorns may help land this top job.

  3. If anybody wants to see what has the largest effect upon the climate just look at the difference between day/night temperatures and summer/winter temperatures. The SUN has the largest effect upon the climate. How could it not?

CO2 is only about 430ppm (parts per million) and if we want a green planet (because plants breathe in CO2), we do need it to be at least this level. CO2 was higher in the distant past whilst the Earth’s temperature was much the same.

The only purpose of these ‘climate commissions’ and ‘climate committees’ in any country seems to be to distract us from the obvious and then manipulate us down a path that they lay out for us, a path of restrictions and control.

As an aside, watch BBC News or one of the David Attenborough nature documentaries: Click a stopwatch when you start watching and I’ll bet that you will not reach 5-minutes before the phrase ‘climate change’ is uttered.

  4. He has to resign because he finally worked out the climate isn’t changing and that carbon dioxide is plant food.

  5. The oven’s been cooking bread for hours, I can’t figure out why the kitchens so hot!
NOW, understand we’re sitting on the crust of a molten planet and the air is getting hot. 🤔

  6. World leading Physics and Atmospheric scientists deny there is a climate emergency but cowardly politicians, school teachers, NIWA, and the greatest spreaders of propaganda the MSM ARE THE VILLAINS THAT DEMAND WE SPEND BILLIONS TO SOLVE A PROBLEM THAT DOESNT EXIST.

  7. Like many high-profile resignations that are occurring at the present time on a global scale, (ie Gates, Schwab, etc.) these people are resigning, retiring, and bolting-off to their hidey-holes!
They know what they have done to us, and are continuing to do the same!
They don’t want to be found, but…construction workers who built their hidey-holes here in NZ know exactly where to find them, when the time comes to drag them out into the open and dispense with Provincial / Colonial Kiwi Justice…!
