Concerns are growing over potential covert climate engineering activities in New Zealand following reports of persistent aerosol trails observed across Canterbury and other regions.
Since mid-2023, over 40 events have been logged by a Christchurch-based researcher, who has compiled photographic, flight-tracking, and rainwater sampling evidence suggesting deliberate spraying in New Zealand skies.
Independent rainwater tests conducted using ICP-MS methods reportedly show elevated levels of aluminium, barium, and strontium — elements often cited in discussions about geoengineering. While the researcher is in the process of obtaining full lab certifications, preliminary findings indicate aluminium concentrations up to 12 times above local background levels. Despite this, Official Information Act (OIA) responses from the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA), the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), and the National Institute of Water and Atmospheric Research (NIWA) all claim they hold “no evidence” of any such activity.
The growing unease follows confirmation from the UK Government of a £50 million funding package for outdoor solar radiation management (SRM) trials, which include controversial techniques such as stratospheric aerosol injection and marine cloud brightening. These trials, backed by the Advanced Research and Invention Agency (ARIA) and the National Environment Research Council (NERC), mark a significant shift in official recognition of geoengineering practices that critics say could destabilise global weather systems.
“New Zealanders have never been consulted about experimental climate engineering. We deserve transparent answers before our skies become a test lab,” the researcher said. Local authorities such as Environment Canterbury (ECan) have reportedly received complaints, but public agencies continue to deny any active geoengineering projects in the country.

This has been going on for decades, but they really ramped it up the last few years. And it happens all around the world. The worst I’ve seen was in Arizona, where they spray all day. I even got a photo where they made a perfect triangle, over a rural area. Other countries I’ve been to you only see it over major cities, but here in NZ it doesn’t seem to matter where.

So go on flight tracker and identify who these planes are. We have a lot of this going on in th Bay of Plenty. One plane I tracked that was leaving a trail was an air nz plane destined for Tauranga.
