It is still not clear why a Registrar-level block was placed on the domain name causing a catastrophic outage of the website, or why it has suddenly reappeared back online.

If the DTNZ domain was deliberately blocked without authorisation, there may be a serious legal issue here.
Section 250(2)(c) of New Zealand’s Crimes Act 1961 makes it an offence, without authorisation, to intentionally or recklessly cause a computer system to fail or deny service to authorised users. The maximum penalty is 7 years’ imprisonment.
The big question is: who ordered the DNS/registrar-level block, under what authority, and why?
If it was an unauthorised deliberate act intended to take the site offline, Section 250 deserves serious consideration.

Having worked in the sector managing high level connections and dealing with the infrastructure, I can say that a block at the registrar layer could mean a few things such as:
-Web server layer distruptions
-Cluster issues – a bunch of virtual servers on a single host
-Multiple host disruption – many servers on many hosts
-Hardware faults causing problems with network interface and virtual networks (VLANS)
-Power and hardware failures
Without saturating this post with unordered ideas you can understand the layers of concern which this issue must adhere to, meaning there are only 7 layers where this issue can exist, these are:

I realised when DTNZ was down that the other “news” we get is totally propaganda, biased, and has a narrative all of its own! The difference is so massive. We really do have a parallel society here in NZ.
Some of your recent posts, I had been thinking to myself could have really been upsetting the mainstream apple cart and I was not surprised in a way when I tried to log into DTNZ website that it would not connect, whatever the reason was.
