Eight people have been taken into custody following an incident at Hutt Hospital Tuesday morning.

Police were called to High Street at around 10:20am following reports of a person in possession of a firearm.

The Hospital went into lockdown for a short period of time, following Police advice. The lockdown was lifted shortly after those allegedly involved were located and apprehended outside the hospital.

“Police then searched a number of vehicles belonging to those who were detained, where a number of weapons were located, including a loaded firearm”, said Inspector Wade Jennings.

“This is an isolated event, and Police are not seeking anybody else in relation to it.

“There is also no threat to public safety following this incident.

“A number of firearms-related charges will be laid following this incident.”

  1. An armed society is a polite society, as you never know who’s ‘packing the heat!’
Whether out of the Hutt or out of Compton, the ‘cultural enrichments’ always seems have the same end-result!
