Figures show electronic bail absconding cases in New Zealand have soared from 64 in 2015 to 832 in 2024, with the absconding rate rising from 5% to 14%.

Victims’ advocate Ruth Money told legacy media the trend is “terrifying” for victims who are told EM bail ensures safety, warning that delays in apprehending offenders erode confidence in the system.

Corrections noted more people are being granted EM bail, though the rate has stayed near 15% since 2015.

Corrections Minister Mark Mitchell said “tougher enforcement” was already reducing breaches, but admitted more work was needed.

  1. Oh, but the ‘wearables’ will do the job…and will probably explode when a societal collapse occurs, just like when the Zionist Mossad sabotaged ‘Pagers’ in Lebanon…!

  2. Just build more jails as this is just a generational problem .
