An explosion struck the United States embassy in Oslo during the early hours of Sunday, prompting a major police response and an ongoing investigation into the cause.
Norwegian authorities said the blast occurred around 1am local time and damaged the public entrance to the embassy’s consular section, although no injuries were reported.
Police deployed significant resources to the scene, including specialist teams, dogs, drones and a helicopter, while forensic investigators began examining the site for evidence.
Officials said the building sustained only minor structural damage and embassy staff were safe, but the exact cause of the explosion and whether it was deliberate remain unclear. Investigators are continuing to work with officials from the United States Embassy in Oslo as authorities search for possible suspects and attempt to determine what triggered the blast.
