A fatal shooting occurred early this morning in Pakuranga, East Auckland, where a person was found dead inside a van bearing the Post Haste company logo.
The incident took place on Marvon Downs Ave around 6:40 a.m. after residents reported hearing a series of gunshots.
Despite the quick response of the police the victim succumbed to their injuries at the scene. The area has since been cordoned off, with a significant police presence as authorities work to determine the circumstances and identify those responsible.
The shooting has deeply unsettled the local community, with residents expressing shock and fear over the rare and violent event.
Pakuranga MP Simeon Brown called the incident “horrifying,” and residents described hearing multiple gunshots, likening the sound to a handgun.
The police have assured the public that there is no immediate danger, though the investigation is ongoing, with officers and the Eagle helicopter continuing to monitor the area. Residents are urged to provide any information that might assist the investigation.
