Fourth oil and gas exploration bid opens for Waikato region

Resources Minister Shane Jones says a fourth petroleum exploration permit application has entered the competitive approval process since the Government lifted the oil and gas exploration ban late last year, describing it as a sign of renewed industry confidence in New Zealand’s energy sector.

New Zealand Petroleum & Minerals has opened a three-month competitive process for an onshore and offshore exploration permit area in Waikato, south of Kāwhia Harbour. The application was submitted by a joint venture involving East Coast Energy Ventures Limited, Monumental Energy Corp NZ Limited, and 3TCF Limited.

East Coast Energy Ventures, which would act as the proposed operator, is a subsidiary of New Zealand Energy Corp, an existing gas producer in New Zealand listed on the TSX Venture Exchange.

“It is encouraging to see interest from established operators within our sector with experience working in New Zealand’s geology and regulatory environment,” said Jones.

Jones said the latest application showed companies were responding to the Government’s position that natural gas would continue to play a major role in New Zealand’s energy mix for decades. He said declining production from mature gas fields meant new exploration was needed to help maintain electricity security and support industrial demand, particularly during periods of high energy use or reduced hydro generation.

The proposed work programme would initially focus on reprocessing existing 2D seismic data and carrying out seismic interpretation work within the first year, before moving into additional geological and geophysical studies.

Competing applications for the permit area can be lodged until 5pm on 12 August 2026. Any successful application will be assessed under the Minerals Programme for Petroleum 2025 and must also meet the requirements of the Crown Minerals Act 1991.

  1. This should have happened when this so-called Coalition Government
An old New Zealand Oil & Gas brochure from 2002 stated that NZhas 400+ years of oil and gas reserves both under the land and NZ territorial waters seabeds.
Now, the Zio-PTB are invoking panic stating that we are running short…a complete and total LIE!
Marsden Point needs to re-open the refinery, and Shane Jones has been told this many times, as well as Simeon Brown.
NZ has the resources to find oil & gas, refine the same for DOMESTIC USE, and the sell the left-over petroleum products overseas.
But here again, why do we all feel like there will be a food shortage based on the lack of energy lies?
The WEF / Zionist JWO narrative collapsed long ago, but in the event you don’t recognise the overall narratives, here’s a sample, & remember; Henry Kissinger was a J3w!

Check out the total take-over in the U.S., and let’s work to insure that this DOES NOT HAPPEN here in New Zealand!
