Justice Minister Paul Goldsmith has promised to “resolve” widespread breaches of suppressed information in the Tom Phillips case, but admits effective solutions remain elusive.
A High Court injunction blocking publication of certain details has been extended, yet suppressed material continues to circulate on social media.
Speaking to legacy media, Goldsmith acknowledged the growing challenge of enforcing New Zealand’s suppression laws against global platforms, noting that while courts hold responsibility, the government is exploring ways to support enforcement. He has regular contact with companies like Google and Meta, but said engagement on the Phillips case would occur “at the appropriate time.”
Despite conceding no clear answers exist yet, he insisted the matter would ultimately “be resolved”.

I know of no other country on Earth which has name suppression laws for court proceedings. New Zealand is an absolute outlier in this regard.
If Paul Goldsmith thinks he can “box lightning with his fists” on this issue, and compel all 8+ billion people on Planet Earth to comply with this law, then all I can say is “Lotsa luck, amigo!” He is just making himself look silly.

It is a shame Goldsmith doesn’t put the same amount of effort into fixing the depression.
Moreover it is well known in the community the family court has been stripped countless loving fathers and children from each other and creating poverty. Fathers are placed on without notice hearings. They don’t even get a say until someones years down the track. In this circumstance the mother is co unfit to care for children.
The confrontation was a setup. Marksman police were armed and ready to take Mr Phillps out. He defended his children to the last breath.

Driven by the love of their children, most fathers pour such time and wealth into lawyers it drives them into poverty causing society more problems down the path. The most recent example is a man being shot dead by a trained police marksman hand picked for the ambush and assassination. Mr Phillips was shot dead just because his only wish was to keep his kids safe from thier drug using mother.
Family court is blind to parental alienation and strongly believes in financially crippling famlies.
It is a system driven by greed from lawyers, women perceived property ownership rights and uses children as currency. Such unchecked evil is allowed to continue decade after decade. The results is youth crime is off the charts, violent men are manufactured by the system.
Pull your one gender appeasing head out of your lazy ass Goldsmith and make sensible property rights only to those who worked decades to buy, pay it down and own it.
Want to be mothers are nolonger allowed to move into property by want to be fathers. Want to be mothers are having children to multiple men and living in state funded housing. Children are growing up without a father’s guidance. It has removed childrens rights to a dad and replaced it with multiple boyfriends. Some with kiddy fiddling tendencies.
Another thing too. The public are well beyond the system of elected governments passing laws that the vast majority would never approve. It is not the slightest bit democratic. At best bureaucratic. That system is unsustainable. It has a finite. The reason I know this is history reveals corrupt and improper governments, usually controlled by the super rich and not by the countries own constituents are overthrown. If you don’t believe just how unpopular all politicians are, just compare every MP on the planet with just how popular and powerful ex convict MrTommy Robinson is today. In the UK it is nolonger a 2 horse race.
Finally, if people do not have enough money to keep a proper roof over their heads, good and wholesome food, safe communities, they will forcefully take what they need from others, use drugs and get drunk just to dampen thier miserable existence.

BTW: Among all the people I know there is not one who thinks that the Family Court is anything but bias and prejudice. It must be THE most far-reaching and most persistent and therefore most crippling factor in society.
