Identical ACC dispute rulings spark concerns over independence

Lawyers are questioning the independence of ACC’s dispute resolution process after discovering multiple identical rulings issued by the Independent Complaint and Review Authority (ICRA), one of two private firms handling ACC challenges.

Decisions issued to different clients between January and March contained word-for-word text, raising fears reviewers were “copying and pasting” outcomes instead of assessing cases individually.

ICRA admitted reviewers had jointly drafted the wording as “best practice,” but insisted each decision was independently reached.

Critics told state-funded media the use of shared “case law templates” risks undermining natural justice and legal independence by promoting a “paint-by-numbers” approach. ACC said it had investigated and found no evidence of pre-determined outcomes, while ICRA maintained templates are only tools to ensure consistency, not to dictate results.

  1. Brings to mind a commentator talking about job applications being received
That appear to be AI generated
And reflect little or nothing of the position being applied for
    So very obvious
As to a lack of knowledge and skills
That stick out like dogs balls

  2. “Independent Complaint and Review Authority (ICRA)” … Neither independent nor an authority, but rather a pseudo state company.

  3. Rules for thee & NOT for me…
ACC denies work related injuries (my wife has suffered debilitating and chronic knee and back pain for 20 fucking years from work-related injuries, and was then constructively dismissed. The Union never contacted her either..), and is still ignored by ACC regarding the work-related injuries.
This indicates that we must be on an ‘Old Boy’ ‘DO NOT HELP LIST’ beginning with the ex-employer CDHB who purged the personnel file.
Typical though of the microcosm known as ‘Christchurch’ and the surrounding Canty towns; deeply Masonic with the 2% small hatters seemingly running / owning the larger businesses.
Once one is adversely mentioned at the Lodge or Synagogue, you might as well pack your bags and head off to Oz, Canada, or a place where the latter elements have a low popuation.

  4. Has anybody worked out just how much tax they are paying into ACC every year? The more you earn and drive, the more you pay. Read their Annual Report. Check out the billions set aside for victims of sexual assault. Check out the huge salaries ACC staff receive. Time to get rid of ACC. Use their investment portfolio to pay off government debt. Let publicly traded insurance companies pick up the slack.
