Podcast supremo Joe Rogan voiced his unease over the unexplained drone activity in a number of states after watching a viral TikTok video suggesting a startling new theory.
In the video, John Ferguson, CEO of a Kansas-based remote aircraft system company, speculated that the drones might be deployed to detect harmful substances like gas leaks or radioactive material.
“The only reason why you would ever fly an unmanned aircraft at night is if you’re looking for something,” Ferguson explained, reiterating his theory was based solely on his expertise and not verified. He admitted it was a personal guess, adding, “If you think it’s bulls–t, whatever, that’s cool. I don’t want to spread misinformation.”
Rogan shared the video on X while raising genuine concern for the first time over the drone sightings that have unsettled residents in New York and New Jersey. His skepticism toward official explanations deepened, particularly after White House National Security Council spokesman John Kirby downplayed the incidents, claiming many reported sightings were likely manned aircraft or unrelated to public safety. Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas echoed similar sentiments, attributing the reports to relaxed regulations permitting nighttime drone operations and duplicative sightings. However, Rogan remains unconvinced, calling previous government statements about the drones “sus.”
The mysterious drones have also drawn bipartisan scrutiny from lawmakers.
New York Senator Chuck Schumer, alongside Senators Kirsten Gillibrand, Cory Booker, and Andy Kim, has called on federal agencies to investigate and explain the incursions.
The group sent a letter to the FBI, Department of Homeland Security, and Federal Aviation Administration urging them to deploy radar technology to identify the drones and their purpose.
This is the first video about these drones that has got me genuinely concerned. https://t.co/yzRoie2lUn
