Fresh legal action is challenging if the two-dose Covid vaccine rules for 12- to 17-year-olds are justified, after a Royal Commission found the requirement “went too far”.
Filed for Ashley Beulink, who developed pericarditis at 14 after a second Pfizer dose, the case followed December 2021 expert advice for one dose, citing limited extra protection against transmission and added myocarditis risk.
However, the advice was not made public in a timely manner. The case could provide important accountability, examine whether young people were able to give informed consent, and strengthen future public-health decisions.
