Daniel Nganeko, a 37-year-old videographer and passionate supporter of Tukapa Rugby Club, has died following an assault outside the club on Gladstone Rd, New Plymouth, on Saturday night.

He passed away in Auckland Hospital, and police are considering further charges beyond the current common assault charge against a 22-year-old man.

Tukapa Rugby Club and Taranaki Community Rugby paid tribute to Nganeko, describing him as a valued member of the community.

Police continue to investigate the circumstances of the incident.
