Roderick Wayne Woods, 37, gained notoriety in 2019 for verbally abusing a group supporting the victims of the Mosque Terror Attack.
Woods was jailed today for 4 years and 2 months in the Christchurch District Court today on a charge of sexual violation by rape.
The victim in her 20s, had been out with friends in central Christchurch on 31 October 2019. After leaving a bar she got into Woods’ car mistakenly believing it was a Uber she had ordered.
Woods drove her to a location in Cashmere. She woke up the following morning to find Woods in the backseat with his arm around her. When she asked to be taken home Woods told her she would have ‘to do something’ for him first. Fearing she had no choice she performed a sex act on him.
In a Victim Impact Statement the woman described how she had tried to commit suicide a number of times since the attack, and that it had had a profound impact on her life.
