Police are appealing to the public for sightings of Zhane O’Neill-Harvey, reported missing from the Bay of Islands.
Zhane, 31, was last seen on Monday 13 July around 1.30pm on Opua Marina but hasn’t been seen or heard from since.
While the photo of her is a recent one, we have information she may now be wearing a burqa style covering, fashioned from clothing.
Police are eager to have Zhane reunited with her family, who are worried for her safety.

If you have seen Zhane or know her whereabouts or movements, please call 105 and reference file number 260718/3205.

How can one ‘be on the look-out’ for a person when that person’s face is covered with a burqa?
One good thing about the burqa: at least it thwarts the illegal facial recognition technology…and the false info a third party might put into the database just to be vindictive!!
Women should NOT be hanging around marinas, as it’s easy for abductors to kidnap on the dock, place inside a vessel, and then sail away to another country.
On a local level, hanging around bus stops or waiting areas at train stations can also provide a staging area for abductions.
Women in this country need to learn some critical life-saving skills…as shown below-
