The name suppression for the 32-year-old man accused of murdering Senior Sergeant Lyn Fleming in Nelson has been extended until his High Court appearance on February 14.

Facing charges including murder, attempted murder, and assault using a vehicle as a weapon, the accused’s counsel, John Sandston, argued that media coverage could “jeopardise a fair trial”.

Justice Andru Isac agreed but noted the extension may not continue beyond the High Court’s first hearing.

Fleming, the first female police officer killed on duty in New Zealand, will be honoured with a funeral service at the Trafalgar Centre on January 16, livestreamed at her family’s request.

  1. What I am interested to find out is what happened to this man to make him so violent against the police. If you ride somebody, they will retaliate, they will turn to violence. They will seek revenge.

When the police took instructions from the then PM to violently attacked peaceful protesters and burn them, to put their childern in harms way while they were sleeping, the police lost consent to police.

  2. I’ve Had no respect for police since COVID…A few years ago If I seen a cop in trouble I would have helped..now I would just video and laugh…there acting like parking wardens giving out fines for 5km over the limit of a road they have just dropped the limit by 20km a hr…yet people still killing there children…gang patches still all over the place

  3. Hang on, not all police officers are the same. Some of them are genuine humans. Some of them are dress-up actors. ( I have seen second hand police uniforms for sale in certain clearing houses ). Some of them are re-cycled rejects from the UK & Northern Europe.. Some of them are neurally implanted robo-cops controlled by the surveillance machine’s Artificial Intelligence and will not recognise humans as opposed to 3D spoofs. Anger resulting from the deplorable actions of Coster and Mallard’s turbo-charged crew at the peaceful parliament protest is understandable and who’s to say not justified? Newton’s first law.
