No quick ceasefire as Tehran demands permanent end to conflict

Iran ceasefire

Iran says it is not prepared to accept another short-term ceasefire, with Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warning that any pause in fighting must lead to a permanent end to the war rather than another temporary halt.

Araghchi said Tehran had ‘not yet reached the point’ where a ceasefire could be considered, arguing that previous pauses had only allowed Israel and the United States to resume military action later.

He said Iran had previously halted its response when attacks stopped, but that did not produce lasting peace.

“When the aggression was stopped, we stopped too. But it didn’t bring about peace. Now they want to ask for a ceasefire again. Well this doesn’t work like this. There should be a permanent end of the war.”

Tehran would continue fighting in what he described as a matter of national security and protecting the Iranian people.

He also said any move toward renewed negotiations would require Washington and Israel to first explain why the conflict began, arguing that simply stopping attacks now would not be enough to justify another ceasefire.

“They have to explain why they started this aggression before we come to the point to even consider a ceasefire. It is not fair that if they only stop the aggression and ask us to stop too… this time is different,” he said.

  1. Israel trying to destroy Iran with the US doing the heavy lifting. Gaza, Syria, Libya and the Lebanon already destroyed. Now looking at you Turkey. And Pakistan, which is at present engaged in a shooting match with Afghanistan – and also, at times, in another shooting match with India – over borders for a made up country. Note that these are all muslim countries usually with half their populations under 18 and so overpopulated they can no longer feed themselves and have become a burden on the rest of the world, with the same situation now developing in western countries which for some inexplicable reason took in millions of muslims who will take personally the destruction of what they consider their countries – even though they took them by force. In much the same way as Israel partitioned Palestine. Because their god said they could. Religious fanatics. All of them.
The west, of course, is guilty of colonialism, and is fighting an internal war against DEI as well as a host of other accusations from the southern hemisphere (who make their complaints in English, using western technology, wearing western clothing and often living in the west because why not) but is still expected to provide the food and niceties to keep the fanatical indigents fat and happy until they destroy everything and breed themselves into the sea.
Meanwhile the investigation into the Epstein affair has conveniently been shelved.
Look at the world leaders and laugh so you don’t cry.

  2. Sounds pretty confident and he’s 100% right. Why should they waste time with bad faith negotiators who behave more like the kind of people who collect for the Mafia. Little chit chat, now break a leg, them some more chit chat. Oh still don’t agree? Pick a finger.

  3. Every media ignores the delicate balance among the Persian Gulf states – and I’d put it like this: If the USA and Iran were best mates then they would together price the other Persian Gulf states out so the Gulf States would then go broke during peacetime. If the USA and Iran are fierce enemies, the partial blockade of the Strait Of Hormuz ensures the other Persian Gulf states still go broke during wartime unless they choose to export to Iran’s allies. Therefore, another major factor to look for is much much better un-sabotaged co-operation between Iran and all of the Gulf States before there would be any reason to end this war.
