Police have confirmed one person has died following a collision involving an electric bus in Parnell on Wednesday night.

Emergency services remain at the scene this morning, with Tamaki Drive still closed in both directions between The Strand and Ngapipi Road.

The crash, which involved an electric bus and another vehicle, occurred at around 9.20pm. One other person sustained serious injuries and was taken to hospital.

Authorities have cautioned that the area may remain hazardous due to the bus’s electric battery system, and road users are urged to avoid the area and use alternative routes until the scene is cleared.

The Serious Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances surrounding the incident.

  1. They are damn lucky this didnt happen in rush hour with the bus packed with passengers. These EV vehicles are an unacvwptable death trap and risk to life and must be banned.

  2. Totally avoidable. This is what virtue signalling gets you. An electric bus run by electricity generated by imported coal that cam here on a gas guzzling ship. Make it make sense.

    • imported coal, while north waikato coal is still being mined, stockpiled, then shipped out to china, because it is ‘too good’ for here.

  3. Ev’s need to be banned and they need to be banned now. This is just a joke, a horrible joke because some one died. Their family should sue the the owners for allowing these potential death traps on our streets. also climate change is not real it just part of the globalist control grid.

  4. Heart goes out to the families. Yes electric vehicles aren’t what they promised unfortunately the green agenda moves forward another unattainable goal to make the few wealthy. They rape the earth for their renewable energy and then pollute it as they’re not made to be recycled or repaired. Why are so many taken in by this scam.

  5. Having heard of an elec J****r owner with an ongoing vehicle fault for months and months, and the dealer and technicians unable to fix it, he was given it back and told not to park it in his garage or near his house…. insanity??
