Auckland Police have seized close to 500 cannabis plants following an operation targeting organised crime groups in the area.

On Tuesday, Police executed four search warrants at properties in Hillsborough, New Windsor, Mount Roskill, and Mount Albert as part of Operation Green.

Acting Senior Sergeant Corey Foster, Auckland City West Police, says the operation targeted organised criminal activity in the area, aiming to shut down any further impact to the community.

“As a result, Police located and dismantled several sophisticated indoor cultivation setups, seizing approximately 486 cannabis plants in varying sizes, along with associated equipment.

“By locating and seizing these cannabis plants, we have prevented them receiving payment that would have gone to fund a range of organised criminal activity in our community.”

Acting Senior Sergeant Foster says although no arrests have been made, he hoped the results would provide some community reassurance.

Police would like to acknowledge the support by members of the public around information on illegal operations occurring within their community.

“We continue to encourage the community to provide us any information on any such concerns they may have,” he says.

“This can be done online or via phone at 105, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 0800 555 111.”

  1. Police would like to acknowledge the support by members of the public around information on illegal operations occurring within their community……….investigate Pharmac, Health NZ Te Whatu Ora, Malaghan and the Beehive.

  2. Its pretty easy to stop all of this by legalising it, users will be users, revenue is made, and if cultivation is on a personal level then there is no major black market openings.

    • Too many idiots coming & going at night more like as well as different people perhaps turning up during the day time.Weird comings & goings always raises suspicion. That & spike in energy bills in residential area’s vs an industrial area or farm.. Then there’s the not so little matter of smell. If the room isn’t sealed tight with good carbon filter extraction then everyone will know whats going on as the smell permeates the air which will pong as well as anyone there smoking it.. Gotta be smart when growing in suburbia & not draw attention.Blinds always closed & windows shut is a sure sign amongst other give aways

  3. But you can legally get a script for premium buds from your doctor, price is around $300-$450 per ounce, but similar quality buds from the many home growers is down to $200-$300 from the $350-$400 from a few years back., or simply growing your own works out a lot cheaper.
