Associate Health Minister David Seymour has backed a new proposal from Pharmac that would expand New Zealand’s vaccine programme, including offering free flu jabs to children aged between six months and five years from 2027.
The proposal would also lock in continued supply agreements for 17 vaccines and a diagnostic test, while introducing new vaccine brands aimed at improving protection for older adults and vulnerable groups.
Around 260,000 extra children could become eligible for funded flu jabs under the changes, with more than 1.5 million people expected to receive vaccines covered by the proposal in its first year. Pharmac is now seeking public and clinical feedback before making a final decision, with the proposed rollout beginning from April and July 2027 depending on the vaccine type.

This is because the number of people taking the jabs is declining. I was at a doctors surgery the other day and heard them discussing this. So how do the vaccine company’s keep making money? Offer to another group of people.
