A pilot was rescued after crash-landing a light aircraft at Tauranga Airport on Wednesday evening.
Emergency services responded just before 8 p.m., with multiple Fire and Emergency (FENZ) crews, including airport firefighters, arriving at the scene.
Though the plane did not catch fire, the pilot was trapped inside, requiring specialised rescue equipment to free them. The individual was handed over to St John’s Ambulance and taken to Tauranga Hospital as a precaution.
