Police are in attendance at a campground off Charlotte Street, Balclutha following an alleged serious assault over the weekend.
Police were notified at around 2:25pm yesterday.
A scene guard was put in place overnight and a scene examination is taking place today.
“The victim was not physically injured, however is incredibly shaken. We are offering the necessary support”, said Senior Sergeant Robin Hutton.
“Residents can expect to see an increased Police presence in the area over the coming days, as enquiries continue.”
