Police are appealing for information as they continue to investigate allegations of historic sexual abuse linked to several West Auckland schools during the 1980s and early 1990s.
A man has been charged in connection with the case and is set to stand trial at Auckland District Court in August next year. Court documents show he faces seven charges involving two alleged victims, including sexual violation, indecent acts, and threatening to kill. His first appearance was in December last year, and he currently has interim name suppression.
“We’re appealing for information from the public to assist with historical allegations of abuse at several West Auckland schools in the 1980s to early 1990s,” police said in a statement posted to the North Shore, Rodney & West Auckland Police Facebook page.
Officers would not confirm whether the accused had been employed at any of the schools in question or which schools were involved, citing legal restrictions. “We understand the public will have concerns and want to know more details, however we are limited in what information can be shared at this time – due both to there being name suppression in place, and the fact that this is still an active investigation,” police said.
Police believe members of the community may hold valuable information about the period in question. “If there are people in the community who have matters they would like to discuss with police, we ask that they contact us,” the statement continued.

The Ministry of Education has declined to comment while the matter remains before the court.
